I'm unsure as to what this object
is exactly, but it might be a telegraph relay or repeater? The
name of the manufacturer dates this to after 1880 when Siemens
Brothers & C. Ltd was formed from the earlier company.
It was kindly donated by Simon
Cole from Westcote Barton.

Four alternate base connections (of the eight)
going clockwise are LOCAL, LOCAL, - and +.
Does this labelling indicate that the long incoming
lines enter at + and - , with a second line in series with an
accumulator and limiting resistor originating at the pair of
local connections?
